The position is titled Senior Specialist, Plastic Design Engineering and the individual will be involved with both Current and Future Plastic Component and Systems Design Engineering activities to strengthen the organization's plastics engineering capabilities across the Division. As a Senior Specialist this individual will assure world-class plastic component designs and plastic design capabilities are achieved, including assuring relevant designs, technologies, methodologies and processes. Although the automotive product line of plastic components / systems is technologically sophisticated, Automotive Plastic Design Engineering Professionals who meet the requirements below are encouraged to apply regardless of "type" of previous automotive plastic components product line experience. Experience Requirements: Analyze Automotive OEM Customer's components / systems requirements versus Suppliers and Division's capabilities including designs, tooling, equipment, automation, processes, methodologies, and human resources. Identify and implement improvements in design, systems, processes, metrics, and training. Identify and qualify suppliers to enhance Division's capabilities where appropriate. Educational Requirements: BS Mechanical Engineering, advanced engineering degree helpful. Seven plus years of experience in Automotive Plastic Design Engineering and solid knowledge of associated operations (tool making, injection molding, materials, assembly, etc.) Full understanding of Automotive Plastic Design Engineering principles, materials, processing technologies, production and automation equipment.
